Welcome to Tumbling River Ranch!
Thank you for your genuine interest in a summer position at Tumbling River Ranch. We are a beautiful guest ranch in central Colorado--only 62 miles southwest of Denver. Our ranch is in the middle of the Pike National Forest, adjacent to the Mount Evans wilderness area. We are a second generation, family run ranch since 1975. The ranch is at 9200 feet, and is a first-class facility. We expect a lot of our staff, and in return you will have a truly memorable summer enjoying our guests each week. Our staff is encouraged to enjoy the ranch and the activities we offer, fun things like riding, fishing, rafting, hiking, and enjoying the mountains (we are close to Denver, Boulder and Breckenridge, which makes for some great day-off trips). To be a successful staff member at Tumbling River, you should be prepared to serve guest first and foremost. Also, you should be prepared to work very hard and enjoy what you’re doing!
Our staff is extremely important to the ranch and our guests. You have a tremendous opportunity to contribute to our guests' enjoyment, and to earn the respect and friendship of the guests and other staff. We only have one objective — to take care of our guests and to make sure that they have a perfect vacation.
Details! Who should apply…
You must be at least 19 years old to apply to Tumbling River Ranch. It is best if you have lived away from home for at least one year. You should also know that we do NOT tolerate the use of narcotics or illegal drugs. And we do NOT allow drinking under age 21. We do expect certain standards regarding personal appearance. Like any business, we expect certain things of our staff and have important rules, in order to maintain good operations. We do not allow staff members to bring any pets. The job includes hourly pay and gratuities.
Availability
We are looking for employees who are available from mid-May to the end of August. Some positions extend through the end of September. The exact dates that you are available to work are VERY important. The employment dates agreed upon become part of a signed agreement if hired.
Compensation information
Employees receive a monthly paycheck with the rate being established when a job offer is made. Everyone works 6 days a week and all positions are over 40 hours per week. Gratuities are a part of our pay system. Our guests are very generous when they see staff going above and beyond for their families and participates in evening activities (hayride, square dance, sports, games and socializing). Summer staff can anticipate an hourly wage in the range of $10-14 an hour and room/board is available at a modest fee as required by the state of Colorado.
Important information and Ranch living
Our staff consists of 25-30 employees. Everyone is given specific job duties but all are expected to help out wherever and whenever needed. We are looking for the following positions: wranglers, housekeepers, wait staff, kid’s counselors (nanny, 3-5 age group, 6-8 age group, 9-11 age group and a teen counselor), ranch hands, office staff, cooks, baker, and a fly-fishing guide.
Transportation is recommended but not required. We will be happy to pick you up at the Denver International airport, with arrangements made in advance. You will need to arrange your own transportation on days off, as ranch vehicles are not to be used for personal purposes.
Washer and Dryer are provided at no charge. Cellular phones do not work at the ranch. We provide ONE staff phone with unlimited long distance. Wireless Internet is available for staff that bring along a lap top computer.
Great things to think about
Before applying to Tumbling River Ranch, please understand the employee expectations at Tumbling River Ranch. We are well known for our outstanding programs for kids and families. Therefore, we enforce a strict policy of cleanliness and dress codes. For the gals, hair is to be pulled back with shirts tucked in. No excessive jewelry, heavy makeup, visible tattoos or body piercings. For the guys, we expect short to moderate haircuts and a clean-shaven look. No jewelry or visible tattoos. We want to see boots, hats and belts all the time!
