  • Comments: We wanted to thank you very much for a great time at your ranch. We have been to a few ranches and found yours to be the best run one we have seen. Your staff was excellent. Everyone we came in contact with was nice, pleasant and wanting to help out. Reva was superb. Maggie really went out of her way to help us with our various eating problems. We appreciate that a great deal.

Laura loved the riding. I greatly appreciated that you actually had guided hikes and that Scott went on them. Every other ranch we have been to says they have them, but somehow, in the end, it never happens. We really loved the room. The view from there was amazing!

  • Comments: We would like to thank you again for our wonderful holiday at Tumbling River Ranch this summer. We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. We loved the beautiful location, the horseback riding (our first time!) and all the other activities including the kids and teens programs, the overnight trip, the rafting, square dancing, the talent show, clay shooting, fly fishing etc. etc., and of course the delicious food and picnics.

Above all we will remember your hospitality and the very kind and helpful TRR staff. It is a long flight from The Netherlands to Colorado, but it’s definitely worth it! This was an all-American experience for us as Europeans, which has exceeded our expectations. We cherish our memories and we definitely want to come back.

  • Comments: What does Tumbling River Ranch mean to us? An amazing welcome, confidence-boosting instruction and wonderful horses — all set in scenery that takes your breath away. We found it the perfect holiday for a family of novice riders wanting a real American experience — can’t recommend it enough.

  • Comments: We had an outstanding week at Tumbling River with our three grandsons. Our expectations were truly exceeded in every detail of the week. I don’t know how you recruit and train your outstanding staff but they turned a very good week into an outstanding family adventure that we will treasure always. I did not know how two seven year olds and a nine year old, none of whom had been around animals, would react. They quickly felt like part of the ranch family and did not want to leave, especially their cowboy boots. Jackson wanted to buy Beaver but his dad assured him their yard was not large enough to keep a horse.

We also have two younger grandsons who now want the same adventure, and we just found out we are going to have a granddaughter in February. So, we see more Tumbling River adventures in our future. The problem will be that their parents won't want to stay at home for the next one!

  • Comments: I was at your ranch recently as a guest, it was my first experience at a ranch such as yours, and it was a truly memorable experience. The facilities were first rate, the staff was the best and what more can you say about the Colorado Rockies? The staff was extremely accommodating and went out of their way on every occasion to make it memorable. Thanks for the memory!

  • Comments: To anyone thinking of vacationing at Tumbling River Ranch, I have but one word to say to you — GO!!! We have taken our family there 3 years in a row now (we number anywhere from 22-35) and everyone enjoys every minute of our week there. Megan and Scott are great hosts, the staff is outstanding, the food is the best (no one ever misses a meal). Homemade rolls, desserts, breads, etc are an important part of our vacation. The activities are horseback riding, shooting, fishing, swimming and on and on. We have been having family vacations for 25 years and Tumbling River is the first place the grandchildren have participated in the programs headed up by the counselors. They love the counselors and the activities that they plan — the whole experience is a 10 plus. If you decide to go, you’ll probably see us there. Hats off to Scott and Megan for their hospitality and making everyone feel at home at their home.

  • Comments: What a wonderful week we had! We rode horses, went white water rafting, slept under the stars, took walks, enjoyed wonderful meals and took in the magnificent scenery. But the favorite part of our stay at Tumbling River was the people we met. We had fun with the other guests and we loved the warmth and enthusiam of the whole staff. By the second day we were all on first name basis and we felt that we were a part of a large, loving family. Tumbling River is a unique experience, and we can't wait to return. You have created a special little place on earth.

  • Comments: I just put a little note in the mail to express our appreciation for the very unique and special place you have created at Tumbling River Ranch.

Our motivation for coming was based on our desire to drop in on our daughter's life for a week. We had been to a dude ranch when the girls were younger, but thought our days of this style of family vacation were behind us. Little did we know that this would be one of the most fun family vacations we have ever had!

Starting with our accommodations...none of the small touches were wasted on me! I loved EVERYTHING about our rooms in the Ranch House...from the books on the shelves to the small “ranch” details to the working fireplaces to your choice of quilts on the beds — everything!

And then there was the food! I never thought that “ranch food” could be so irresistible. By mid-week I gave up all good intentions to avoid the extras...everything was just too delicious. It seemed justified, since we worked up an appetite for every meal with all the amazing activities at hand.

Which brings me to the array of new experiences in the offing. I expected to do some horseback riding, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ride in a RODEO!!!!!! Trap shooting was another new one for me, the hiking was fabulous, fly-fishing an option I wish I had taken, and best of all was our overnight in the back country-- spectacular!!!!! The evening activities were a bonus--we danced until the bitter end at the Square Dance and I sat in amazement as the entire staff put on a show at the Hootenanny--who would have guessed that there was so much talent amongst those young people (and Scott!). The special entertainment at the campfire and talent night was an extra bonus.

And I cannot say enough about your staff — and not just because I know one of them intimately! They all had that special gift of relating to people and making us all feel comfortable and cared for. There was a genuine warmth about all of them, an authenticity and individuality that was so fun and refreshing.

And of course the two of you...Megan, with a newborn and two 'young- uns'...you amaze me!!! And Scott was ubiquitous!! Have you two cloned yourselves or something?! All the warmth and real caring starts at the top and that is so obvious. By the time I left, I felt like I had joined one big wonderful family.

Thank you for the time of our lives!! The memories will live on and grow sweeter with time. You have made a real difference in our lives.

  • Comments: Having thought our trip to TRR 23 years ago with our daughters 7 and 13 was the best ever, I decided to challenge the thought. I now have 2 sons-in-law who definitely have their own opinions. The 7 of us (yes there was a 1yr old grandson) made our reservations and off we went. My wife and I live in Miami, one daughter in Denver and the other in San Rafael, CA. so we can't get together often. This had to be right and it was perfect. Your staff is as well trained as any I have encountered. They made the week. The food, what can I say....better than a cruise ship. The horses, riding and other activities (and the weather) were perfect. I think we now have a multi-generational ownership in saying it was our best vacation.

  • Comments: I was just thinking that my first summer at Tumbling River Ranch was twenty years ago. Hard to believe! I have such great memories of you, your family, and the staff/guests. TRR really shaped my life — did you know I was pre-law prior to coming to TRR? Being a children’s counselor changed the whole course of my life — hey, go figure? I'm a children's counselor again!

You and Scott have made so many improvements but have kept the experiences the same — enriching/bonding/memory making!

  • Comments: We look forward to your annual letter and pictures each year and feel like we are watching your family grow up! We love the humor and learning what ya’ll are up to.

We have very fond memories of our trip to Tumbling River and still feel we will come back and visit you one of these years. It was a great time, great food, wonderful people and the best guest ranch experience we ever had. We have been to some other great places for the scenery, but nothing can compare with your attention to detail!

  • Comments: Thank you for yet another grand and memorable visit to TRR. Our family planned this August visit for over a year, to accommodate the busy summer schedules of four grandchildren, and Marilyn and I celebrated our 50th anniversary in the very best way possible — with family. Although we found the “care and feeding” of the guests was superb in every way, we were particularly impressed with the beds which were “Oh, so very comfortable.” Morning coffee in front of a wood fire was very pleasant indeed, and the available firewood with the easy start tender, over the top.

Your wrangler staff was terrific, professional, yet personal. How you recruit such a marvelous staff is a skill so rarely seen.

Thank you once again for arranging a slice of life so seldom seen, but so long remembered.

  • Comments: Suzanne and I just want to say that this turned out to be one of the best vacations we ever had. I have to admit that I wasn’t too sure about the whole dude ranch concept, particularly being on a horse for many activities, but you and your staff turned me around pretty quickly and made our stay there one that we and our kids will remember forever. We were so impressed by how welcome you made us feel and by how much fun we had. Julie and Jessica can’t stop talking about TRR. I’m sitting here at my office in New York but my mind is at your upper camp!

  • Comments: We wanted to share our book (photo album book) with you to let you know what a great time we had at the ranch. There are some photos of Laney and Finn in here as well. We are looking forward to next summer and may have some Texas friends to bring with us as well. Thanks for a great week.

  • Comments: We’ve been home less than two days and we are trying to get back to reality. It’s not easy to leave TRR behind. Everything about the ranch: Staff, horses, riding, acivities, children’s programs, food, scenery — is excellent. We haven’t gotten our photos developed but we’ve visited the website twice and we’ve read and reread your brochure in our reluctance to let go of the special vacation you created for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have many wonderful memories of our experiences.

We didn’t think it was possible, but the second vist was even better than the first!

  • Comments: We want to thank you for a marvelous week at Tumbling River Ranch. The grandkids enjoyed the riding, made new friends and saw how people can really love their jobs. As always, we appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, and we wish to thank Nicky for singing the “Grandpa” song.

Dana and I wish you the greatest success. We recommend your ranch for all grandparents.

  • Comments: Just a note to say that our family enjoyed a great week at TRR. Thanks again to you for allowing us to bring our horses — the Pool Pasture was marvelous for them.

Thanks to the whole crew for our food, wrangling, shuttling, fishing and general care. It was a fun week and we are enjoying our photos.

  • Comments: Six days seems much too long!
I know you are all getting ready for the summer season, you are probably very busy, and may not get a chance to read this until we are in your presence, but I just wanted to let you know how excited my family and I are to come out and visit you all once again. I can’t put into words the feeling I get when we pull onto the rock road that leads to the ranch. I always wish we had super speed so that we could get there faster, but it never happens. The feeling I get when we are leaving the ranch after our wonderful stay, makes me sad that we couldn’t stay for the whole summer. I love coming to TRR every year, and I always look forward to it. It’s a family vacation that I look forward to taking. See you in six days, not that I’m counting or anything...

  • Comments: We’ve had 3 family reunions over the past 11 yrs @ TRR & can’t wait to get back this summer. Each time our vacation there is better & better. The food is incredible! The accommodations are amazing! And the staff is simply the best! With square dancing, whitewater rafting, eating, s’mores by the campfire, fishing, eating, overnights & early morning rides, hikes, eating, the rodeo, and, oh yea, did I mention eating, you’ll have cherished memories for a lifetime. If you’re looking for a unique vacation that rivals all others, TRR is for you.

  • Comments: I’m afraid it’s been 7 years since we went to Tumbling River Ranch, but it was one of the best family vacations we have had. Ask them how long they’ve managed the place when you call. We took three adults (grandmother came along, who stayed in private room in lodge) and three kids, including a baby. We had both sides of a spacious log cabin duplex on the river—perfect. Great service, beautiful setting, really nice horses (my husband is a frequent rider and picky about this), good food, lots of personal attention. Only about 60 people there at one time. Totally fun place.

  • Comments: As a Lieutenant in the FDNY, I was part of a fund-raising bike tour that stretched coast to coast in 2004. I thought myself very unlucky to get the Continental Divide leg of this bike tour until staying at Tumbling River Ranch! Megan and Scott were kind enough to donate a night at their Ranch to the Widow's and Orphan's Fund — and us riders got to stay in one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever seen. I fell in love with the sheer physical beauty of TRR and talked about it often. My (now) wife and I returned to TRR for vacation in July 2005. It was the best vacation ever — the staff was friendly beyond compare. The thought of the food still makes our mouths water! Learning to ride horses was exciting. We are looking forward to returning with our son.

  • Comments: Went to TRR with kids aged 13, 12 and 3 last week of June 2007. It was amongst the greatest weeks of my life. I cannot think of one thing about it that wasn’t first rate. Our older kids are normal cynical kids and they cried the last night thinking about leaving.
It was too good for words...
We had perfect weather, but they all seemed geared up for anything. Food is great whether it’s served at the lodge or 5 miles up the mountain during your trail ride. Our cabin overlooked the river and the sound of the rapids outside our window at night was very soothing....

  • Comments: I can't tell you how much our family group of 13 loved our week at Tumbling River Ranch this summer. We felt so fortunate having found you on the internet. The ranch provided everything that you described. Our children and grandchildren continue to tell us that the ranch vacation was our "best ever" family reunion. The Pueblo House was the ideal location for us. It was so unique, spacious and comfortable. And that glorious big kitchen constantly had us drooling over the yummy smells of fresh baked goods and newly-brewed coffee. Our days were happily filled with riding, hiking, white-water rafting and lots of time fishing. We loved having the big pond right outside our door. How glorious to just open the front door and find fishing poles lined up waiting for us! And, a word must be said about your staff. We were very impressed with their abilities and caring personalities. And, finally, having the two of you being so hands-on really added to the A+ quality of the ranch. Thanks for providing us with a great summer vacation!

  • Comments: Tom and I want to thank all of you for making our first Dude Ranch experience exceed our expectations in all categories! All of you were so accommodating, courteous, helpful and SMILING! We enjoyed the rides, the delicious food (including the cookouts), the pool/hot tub, the shooting, the fishing, and the lovely location. Thank you all for one of our all-time fabulous vacations. We hope to be back, and will refer friends and family.

  • Comments: My husband, Brad, and I have had the opportunity (and privilege) to visit Tumbling River several times and we always leave saying, “Let's just move here!” We have not yet visited with our children, but I can assure you they will be with us on our next trip! Scott and Megan obviously take pride in their work and it shows in all areas of the ranch...the handpicked staff...the cozy cabins and main lodge...the delicious food...the top-notch children's programs...abundance of outdoor activities...live entertainment...and their true desire to make each and every guest feel welcome and comfortable. This destination trip is one not to be missed and I can't wait for our next visit!
