Location

Secluded Wilderness, Only a Few Hours from the Airport

location-map

Tumbling River feels as far away from the hustle and bustle of life as anywhere on Earth, yet it’s only a few hours from a major metropolitan area and international airport. There’s no need for you to be a travel genius to plan your vacation. Tumbling River is accessible by airline flights and a few hours of scenic driving. Nowhere else in the world can you feel this far away, yet be so close.

We are truly high in the heart of the Rockies, with the snow-capped peaks of the Continental Divide within riding distance to the west, Mt. Evans and Mt. Bierstadt to the east. Pike’s Peak can often be seen to the south.

Fly directly into Denver International Airport & be relaxing in your cabin at Tumbling River Ranch within two hours. We are 75 miles from the DIA terminal.

We are surrounded by Pike National Forest with many of the highest peaks in the Rockies. There are literally millions of acres of secluded, unspoiled country to enjoy; alpine meadows colored with wildflowers, cascading streams and deep blue mountain lakes far from any sign of civilization.

Twenty miles to the north is historic Georgetown which a century ago became known as the “Silver Queen” — the silver mining capital of the Rockies. Its old homes and stores are extremely well preserved.

Directions

map

The construction on Guanella Pass appears to be complete! However, we still recommend using Highway 285 from Denver as a more direct route. Because Guanella Pass is a mountain pass, there are occasional closures. We try our best to stay current on the closures of the pass, but the changes are sometimes daily. If you are planning to drive over the pass from Georgetown, please visit www.cotrip.org , or stop at the Visitors Center in Georgetown to pick up maps and information about the Pass. For current conditions and any delay or closure information, call 303-569-3251,ext. 2.

If you are driving from Denver or the Denver International Airport, the easiest and most direct route is Highway 285.

Directions from Denver International Airport:

Exit via Peña Boulevard.

Merge onto 1-70 going West.

Exit onto C-470 (Exit 260), Southbound.

Exit onto Highway 285, Southbound toward Fairplay. This will take an hour.

Look for the town of Grant, about 15 miles outside of Bailey, CO. When you enter the town of Grant, look for Guanella Pass Road also known as Geneva Rd #62. Turn right onto Guanella Pass road and look for our sign on the left. We are four miles from Hwy 285.

Ranch Animals:

Pets

We have wonderful ranch pets for you to love while at Tumbling River Ranch, but we cannot provide for guest pets. Please do not allow ranch pets inside any buildings.

We on the lookout for a Golden Retriever, two donkeys’ and a whole critter pen full of ranch animals!

Phone, Mail, and Technology

Please note that cell phones do not work at the ranch, but there are guest phones in both the Ranch House and the Pueblo House. These phones require a calling card or a credit card to make outgoing calls. Any messages that come into the office will be brought to you at mealtime. We do have a fax machine (303-838-5133) and are glad to assist with incoming and outgoing faxes in the main office. We take and pick-up mail once a day. Please bring outgoing mail to the office and any incoming mail will be brought to you at mealtime.

We do have wireless Internet access. As long as you have a device that has wireless capability, you will be able to access the service from practically anywhere on the ranch. Please be aware that guests will need to bring their own laptops, as our business computer will not be available for guest use. Before you decide to stream movies and TV shows at Tumbling River, remember that Internet service at 9200 feet in the heart of the Rockies is not quite the same service as you might find in the city! When all 50 guests + 30 TR staff try to use the Wifi at the same time, the Wifi gets overwhelmed and cannot keep up. We do ask that when you are out and about to put all your devices on “airplane mode” so that the devices will stop searching for a signal.

Driving information

Please refer to the driving directions section of our website to print a map, or find us on Google Maps. The easiest way to get to the ranch is via Highway 285. Please note that taking Interstate 70 west to Georgetown, then taking Guanella Pass is an unreliable option as the Pass is often closed. Please check the Colorado Department of Transportation website before utilizing that route.

Using GPS

If you are using a GPS device to the ranch, please only program as far as the town of Grant. Depending on the GPS unit, putting in the physical address of the ranch (3715 County Road 62) will often take you an hour south or not quite to the ranch! We have worked with Google and Apple Maps to fix the issue, but we’d rather see you as soon as we can.

Please feel free to call the ranch at 1-800-654-8770 at any time to discuss driving options.

DEPOSIT POLICY

We require a deposit of $600 per person.  This deposit is due within 10 of making your reservation.  Should you need to cancel, the deposit (less 10%) is refundable if notice of cancellation is received at least 60 days in advance of your arrival date.  Inside 60 days of  your arrival date, the    deposit is non-refundable.  The  remaining balance of your rates is due 30 days prior to your arrival.  Taxes, service charges and any other additionals will be paid at check out on Sunday.  Reservations made within 60 days prior to arrival must be 100% prepaid at the time of booking. Transportation:

AIRPORT PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF Denver International Airport is just 75 miles, a scenic two-hour drive. If you are staying for a week, the ranch will be happy to pick you up at the Denver International Airport. The first available pick-up on Sunday is 1:00 p.m. Try to schedule your Denver arrivals and departures between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The last Tumbling River airport shuttle departing on check-out Sunday is 9:00 a.m. Please make your flight accordingly. Cost is $400 round trip per family (up to 6 people). The ranch will meet you at Passenger Pick-up outside the building on Level 4. Please note that Tumbling River has the ability to pick-up 30-35 guests each week out of our 50-55 guests. If you know that your family requires a Tumbling River Airport Transfer, please let us know as soon as possible. We will book the transfers based on first come, first serve.

OTHER TRANSPORTATION The most direct route to Tumbling River is via Highway 285. Unfortunately, if you are not having TRR provide your transportation and you are weary about renting a car, your options are limited. Many of the “super shuttles” you see when you are in CO for the winter, service the I-70 corridor and the ski towns. Tumbling River makes airport runs only on Sundays, so if you are staying less than a week and you need a one-way trip, please call the ranch. We can recommend a car service that may be able to help.

RENTAL CAR Tumbling River Ranch offers a shuttle service from the Denver Airport. While you will not need a car while you are vacationing at Tumbling River Ranch, some guests like to come in a few days early for various reasons, and others find the car helpful to facilitate their own fishing, golfing, or sightseeing trips. A car provides freedom in scheduling these activities. If you are staying less than a week, you will need to rent a car, or secure a car service.

Special dietary needs:

If you have special dietary restrictions, we ask that you contact the ranch for more information. We are able to handle most restrictions with enough notice, however we do have some limitations and some restrictions come with an additional fee.

For the most part, our meals are served family-style. This means that adults and kids sit together and enjoy the same meal–we prepare a set entree, rather than a menu to choose from. If you have a picky eater in your family, take the time to fill out the “dietary needs” section on our advance guest form. We can incorporate additional items into our meals if we are prepared ahead of time. We are the most kid-friendly ranch in Colorado, and will always have kid-friendly dining options on-hand (e.g. macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, PB&J, etc.). If your child likes something specific, please let us know so that we can be prepared.

Final Payment

We encourage and welcome cash, personal checks or traveler’s checks. We also accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
